Nike Air Max Modern Flyknit Sail has taken another step into the lucrative Islamic clothing market by unveiling a hijab designed for female Muslim athletes. Nike is set to launch a specially-designed hijab to help Muslim women compete in sports. The head cover, called the "Nike Pro Hijab," boasts a single-layer pull-on design made from lightweight polyester in dark, neutral colors. The fabric's tiny holes will make it breathable while remaining opaque, a requirement for hijab-wearing women. Sportswear giant Nike is developing a high-performance hijab for Muslim women athletes, the latest move to fold the Muslim clothing industry into the mainstream. This week, Nike announced the release of the Nike Air Max Modern Flyknit Sail Obsidian Pro Hijab, a lightweight, breathable head covering for Muslim athletes. The gear could be a game-changer for those female athletes who have long fought resistance to their participation, both from within and outside their faith. While Nike believe the trainers adhere to guidelines, an IAAF spokesman said: 'We are aware of the speculation around the shoe and have received inquiries about new designs of shoes currently being worn by elite athletes.

Mens Nike Air Max Modern Flyknit said it had been developing the new sporting hijab for a year. The sportswear giant said it was inspired by Saudi Arabian runner Sarah Attar, who competed in the 800m race at the London 2012 Olympics wearing a hijab, and Emirati weightlifter Amna Al Haddad, who competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The design process took 13 months, and the final product will be available for sale in the company's Spring 2018 season. That runner was Saudi Arabia’s Sarah Attar, who along with Emirati weightlifting Olympian Amna Al Haddad helped inspire the product. Conservative members of the Muslim religion view women's participation in athletics as antithetical to a commitment to modesty -- a belief that isn't that distant from that of 20th-century American sports writers and officials who argued that athletic women violated traditional notions of femininity. By linking the purchase receipt for a pair of yellow Nike Air Max 95s to a publicly released photo and looking up the address of where and to whom they were delivered, the investigators were able to build up a picture of how Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev spends his money. ‘This movement first permeated international consciousness in 2012, when a hijabi runner took the global stage in London.' "I was thrilled and a bit emotional to see Nike prototyping a Hijab," Lari said in a statement. "I've tried so many different hijabs for performance, and ... so few of them actually work for me. But once I put it on and took it for a spin on the ice, I was blown away by the fit and the light weight." Closer to home, fencer and New Jersey native Ibtihaj Muhammad last year became the first hijabi American to compete in the Olympics for the U.S. The film was released on YouTube on 2 March, and last night the middle classes of Russia took to the streets in protest, with the opposition leader Alexei Navalny being arrested. The Nike Air family of products all feature pockets of air in their soles to help cushion the feet while running. Until now that is. Fortunately, our research recently revealed what might be the perfect hybrid in the form of Nike’s brand new Vapormax Trainers, £40 (out this month). Made with snug fitting Flyknit material, and a streamlined air bubble sole, they look just as good with your favourite denims and a trench as your new running leggings and crop top.

876066-100 trainers worn by Mo Farah in training are set to be investigated by the IAAF after claims that they contain illegal springs. Sports brand Nike has unveiled limited-edition Air Max trainers by designers Marc Newson, Riccardo Tisci and Arthur Huang to celebrate the shoes' 30th anniversary. Lari, a hopeful for the Winter Olympics next year in Pyeongchang, South Korea, posted photos of herself wearing the hijab on her Instagram page. Lari is from Abu Dhabi and represents the United Arab Emirates. Nike says it was a carefully planned decision to put their trademark 'swoosh' above the left ear to "highlight the hijab's pinnacle performance nature". Nike’s goal, therefore, was to create a lightweight hijab that was “inconspicuous, almost like a second skin,” the company said. Its design is now being used by select Muslim women in the Persian Gulf region’s competitive sports scene. A Nike spokesperson told Al Arabiya English they came up with the concept after Al Haddad visited its research facility at their global headquarters in Oregon, US. Debenhams recently announced a partnership with modest fashion brand Aab, making it the first major U.K. department store to sell hijabs. Last January, high-end design label Dolce & Gabbana launched a line of hijabs and full-length abayas.
